Jan De Luyck <jan-bugs@kcore.org> has reported the following problem on the Debian bug tracker (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=419499):

  "I tried to append another session to a multisession DVD (4.4gb) with only 3.1gb in use.
  The data I'm trying to add is around 600mb.

  K3B identifies the DVD as being a DL DVD, and thinks 5.1gb is in use. Trying to write
  to it is not possible, K3B keeps asking for an 'appendable medium'."

I'm not sure exactly what kind of details you may need to figure out whether or not the problems comes from K3b, but here is the K3b log he attached to his report.  Feel free to ask for more information.
