Yes, labels are a great idea (making abuse playlists for categorizing music obsolete) but at the moment (Amarok 1.4.7) they're not really convenient to use. There should be an easier way to label songs: - the right-click submenu mentioned above is a nice idea - a window like the one from the context browser when I click on "add label", but permanent and pointing to the actual title - a list of labels in the context browser - label column in the playlist - or shortcuts to defined labels (keyboard assisted labeling) Something like that, because normally I have Amarok running in the background and uses shortcuts for rating, but adding a label means at the moment: 1) switch to Amarok 2) select context browser, click on "add label", choose label, click OK or 2b) right click "Edit meta data", choose "label", click on labels, click OK But thanks for the great work till now! Keep on rolling! Labels will come back in Amarok 2. (In reply to comment #2) > Labels will come back in Amarok 2. are labels still on the future plans list? If so, it might be really cool to import the last.fm tags as labels. Now that one can create playlists regarding the labels of sons (as of Amarok 2.3.0.90), I think this bug is relevant (again). Labels can be added via the edit metadata dialog. It would be really cool if one could choose labels from a label cloud and type in new ones, or at least if a typed in label was auto-completed with a dropdown menu. The way labels can be added at the moment is quite inconvient and one runs into danger to add useless labels by typos. Additionally, it would be cool if one could (right) click on that label cloud to change a label's name (for all songs containing it). Besides, I agree with Torsten, it would be really great if at least, one could view Last.fm's tags for a song when labelling. Changing to Services/Last.fm, as it would be nice to be able to use the last.fm tag cloud. This is possible at least as of Amarok 2.4.0, sothis bug can be closed, can't it? :-) Thank you for the feedback. |
