... then I will give up and look for a mail client that does, after using kmail since 1999.

Below is a message body of a HTML mail in my sent-mail folder. ALL non-ascii characters are MISRENDERED, the data is UNUSABLE:

Dans sejlunion har lige nu et pro= jekt der giver klubberne tilskud til at k=F8be joller af typen Feva XL. Det= er en tomands-jolle som er velegnet til begyndere, den kan sejles af to b= =F8rn fra 30-35 kg. Den kan sejles af nybegyndere der er store nok. 
JEG synes at det = viller v=E6re fantastisk, hvis vi kunne f=E5 del i dette!!!

Kort sagt, skal man k=F8be to jol= ler med en egenbetaling (fra klubben) p=E5 25.000 kr. Sejlunionen giver s= =E5 et tilskud p=E5 10.000, og v=E6rftet giver en god pris.
Alts=E5 skal der bruges 50.000 fo= r at deltage i projektet, og de skal findes hurtigt, da projektet omfatter = 100 joller. De 35 - mindst - er allerede afsat.
Opgaven er alts=E5, at f=E5 ideer= til hvem vi = kan bede om penge, og overvej= e om vi kan/vil skillinge nogle sammen. Forel=F8big g=E5r mine tanker ud p= =E5 at ringe til de fynske banker og til Codan for at bede om hj=E6lp. Har = i ideer, s=E5 ring eller skriv!
Jeg tror p=E5 a= t vi kan hvis vi hj=E6lpes ad!
P.S. I =F8vrigt ville det v=E6re = godt at f=E5 startet en indsats for at samle sponsormidler til nye joller u= nder alle omst=E6ndigheder, da samtlige de joller vi har b=F8r skiftes ud i= ndenfor en kortere =E5rr=E6kke.

A little more information:

This affects the copy in sent-mail only, and only if sending the mail first 
fails, for example because of a wrong address.

But then, that is the situation where I REALLY need the sent-mail copy. All my 
typing is lost, in the principle.

Closing the bug as a duplicate of bug 132487 then. Note that one of the other duplicates of that bug also mentions the sent mail folder, so this appears to be the same problem.
