This has been reported in Debian BTS at http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=396776

If one edits a task that is currently timing, and add some time to it,
the timer stops.  Actually, simply opening the editor and then hitting
OK stops the timer.

If one selects setttings | configure karm, and then hits OK on the
dialogue, the timer stops.

I'd also like it if the timer could keep running when I save and close
the file (so I can transfer it to another worksite), but that's more
of a wishlist item.

I am pretty sure this no longer occurs in the latest version. Please update.

What version is the fix effective for, and is it released?
Help|About says I'm using karm 1.6.0 (still KDE 3.5.5).

Should I have received the additional comments by mail?  I didn't, as far as I can tell.

so, this means, you have to do an svn checkout of the 3.5 KDE PIM branch as described in http://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started/Sources/Anonymous_SVN 

with 

svn info you find out your version number, it must be >=611833. Then you can build your KDE as described under http://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started/Build/Stable_Version
