Description hutch 2007-03-05 06:04:22 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.6)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux

Fedora Core 6, when a CD is inserted, the icon pops onto the desktop and a number of processes are started:
5728 ? S 0:00 kio_media [kdeinit] media /tmp/ksocket-hutch/klaunche
 5729 ? S 0:00 kio_system [kdeinit] system /tmp/ksocket-hutch/klaunc
 5730 ? S 0:00 kio_audiocd [kdeinit] audiocd /tmp/ksocket-hutch/klau
 5731 ? S 0:00 kio_media [kdeinit] media /tmp/ksocket-hutch/klaunche
 5733 ? S 0:00 kio_audiocd [kdeinit] audiocd /tmp/ksocket-hutch/klau
 5735 ? S 0:00 kio_http [kdeinit] http /tmp/ksocket-hutch/klaunchers
 5738 ? S 0:00 kio_http [kdeinit] http /tmp/ksocket-hutch/klaunchers

I those kio_audiocd processes are the villains.
If I start playing the audio cd, e.g. using kscd, then after a few minutes, it will suddenly stop and revert to the start of the cd.
This appears to happen when the kio_audiocd processes die.
There are two of them for some unknown reason, so this happens twice but once they all die, everying is fine.

One can kill them by hand and that seems to prevent this problem but obviously this is a bug and ought not to happen.

Either the kio_audiocd processes ought never to start or they ought not to interfere with other processes.
