Please provide a backtrace of the crash (install kdelibs-dbg and kdenetwerk-dbg first). I would like to, but unfortunatly I got no experience with debugging applications at all, so please give me some advise. I have installed gdb, kdelibs-dbg und kdenetwork-dbg on my system. How do I backtrace kopete? When I attach to it with kdbg, I have no chance to examine the stack, because X11 crashes immidiatly. Please help a n00b to debug a program :-) You can run gdb from the command line and attach to the process ID of kopete. $ gdb /kde/prefix/bin/kopete --attach `pidof kopete` gdb> run *reproduce crash* gdb> bt Which stands for backtrace. Thanks for the small tutorial. However this problem doesn't occur anymore, altough I didn't change anything on Kopete. Maybe it was a side effect of some other library. |
