Version:           0.9.0 (using KDE 3.5.6, Kubuntu (feisty) 4:3.5.6-0ubuntu7)
Compiler:          Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.20-9-generic

Digikam 0.9 is not translated in french (menus in english).
The Debian/Experimental version 0.9 is translated.

Hello,
Check that you installed kde-i18n packages for french language. Common translations are included in the base kde translations...

Note: most of the translation for the svn version is done. If you get the latest svn version with languages, you will be able to have a (nearly) fully translated digiKam interface. Check here:

digikam.mo is missing in /usr/share/locale/fr/LC_MESSAGES/

Ok, I see.
The ubuntu package doesn't generate the lang files, although they exist in the source package :
http://packages.ubuntu.com/cgi-bin/search_contents.pl?searchmode=filelist&word=digikam&version=feisty&arch=i386&page=1&number=all

It's not a digikam bug, report it to ubuntu bug tracking system...
