Description Johannes Tophøj Rasmussen 2007-02-22 16:44:41 UTC
Version: 1.9.1 (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

When corresponding with someone you often reply to the person several times, and if both persons reply to each other within the main text e.g.:

> > this is some evnen older stuff
> talking about some stuff
> talking about some more stuff yada yada
replying to the stuff
> even more stuff from the mail you are replying to

... quite a bit of "> > >"'s tend to build up. So if there were a tool in kmail COMPOSER that could remove lines with more than one ">" (meaning text several replies back) it would be possible to reply to the replies without sending back and forth an email containing text irrelevant to the present reply, and the email getting long and messy.

I know that the colour encoding helps prevent this but I would find this a nice feature. Especially because a very big part of all emails send are replies (to my experience), or replies to replies. Maybe the filter shouldn't just filter things with more than one ">" but rather a custom amount of ">" - therby deciding how much 'history' the mail should contain.

This filter should only be applied to text in the composer. This tool would of course still be practical if only one of the senders has this feature. Just an idea.

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.

Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
