I wouldn't expect a performance hit like that. How many alarms do you have set up in KAlarm? And how many of those are recurring? Can you please confirm what version of KAlarm you are running (use Help -> About)? Hmm... there's one alarm scheduled (which I originally did for a one-time wake-up event on Jan. 18 2007 3:50h in the morning); but looking at the details, it seems like there's some handling error... Apparently the alarm is rescheduled every minute for the next minute (without actually doing anything else)... Looks like I'm too stupid for kalarm, or the app is too complicated :-) Anyway, after disabling the "alarm repeat", kalarm doesn't seem to block the system any more. What type of alarm is it - is it a command alarm? It would be useful to know details in case there's a way that KAlarm can handle it better. Can you provide full details of the alarm? I'd like to check if there is anything that KAlarm is doing wrong, so that other people don't encounter the problem you did. Sorry for not responding, and thanks for the reminder :-) Apparently the alarm has been deleted automatically seven days after I have turned it off - but luckily there were still the backup files in .kde/share/apps/kalarm/ :-D Attached is the content of that folder; the backup files contain the alarm I had set. Is this sufficient, or should I try to restore the alarm and check the GUI then? Created attachment 20366 [details]

Thanks. Just to be sure, can you confirm that the alarm is the one for 21/2/07 at 22:45, with a repeating audio file? (That seems to be the only alarm present.) You said originally that the alarm was set to repeat every minute - did you use the recurrence tab to set that up, or did you use the Simple Repetition button to set it up? That could make a big difference to how it was handled. Indeed there should be just one alarm in that file, but that was for Jan. 18 2007, before 04:40h German time :-) (guessing from calendar.ics54fh9a.new it was set to 04:15h, which is quite probable). I'm pretty sure that I did not use the Simple Repetition button, but used the Recurrence tab for this. A similar bug, where KAlarm hangs on startup and freezes the system for a while, has now been fixed (SVN commits 735153 and 735154). Because I can't reproduce this bug, and the fix for the other bug may well also have fixed this one, I'm now marking this bug also as fixed. New versions (1.4.19 and 1.9.9beta) of KAlarm containing the fix should be available from http://www.astrojar.org.uk/kalarm tomorrow. |
