Description Jeffrey 2007-02-07 17:31:27 UTC
Version: 3.5.5 (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

Working in a MS environment requires that I some how have a shared calendar (Free/Busy); these vfb files company wide are stored on a SAMBA-accessible server, but it seems that (after an hour of trying) KOrganizer cannot publish or retrieve from a SMB://server.work/office/FreeBusy/ directory.

At the least, it would be nice to have a Free/Busy file location setting that allows one to browse [...] for where that location should be, rather than having to type the path manually (which increases the chance of error, and prevents users from knowing if Samba shares are allowed or not). Also, finding other users' Free/Busy info should allow for a variable %NAME%.vfb or the like to allow for one location to be set for all possible contacts.

I am still only partially able to get Free/Busy times functioning in Kontact's Calendar.

I can now access the files with the KDE fish://myuser@server/path/to/files/username.ifb protocol (SSHFS-based, I believe) and also update my own Free/Busy, but it ONLY functions if I manually point to each coworker's file -- I cannot seem to set up the Calendar Options > Free/Busy > Retrieve option to actually find those files on its own.

For whatever reason, our files are username.vfb files, but linking those to *.ifb files means that I can use them -- not sure the difference, but it works as a link.

I've also tried making the "Use full email address" box and created links there with the full address (some ending in .ifb and others not) and it still isn't retrieving them automatically.

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of korganizer (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
