This should probably be merged with bug #121522.  I'm experiencing the same issue, with the nuance that reminders are triggered sooner than programmed for recurring events too.  I could not fix this by restarting the system.

SVN commit 932770 by smartins:

Alarm interval was converted to minutes when read, but not converted back to seconds when written.
