Version:           1.0rc5 (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from:    NetBSD pkgsrc
Compiler:          gcc version 3.3.3 (NetBSD nb3 20040520) 
OS:                NetBSD

A CD-RW that was not finalized (for unknown reason) is treated as blank by K3b and cannot be blanked manually (using Tools -> Erase CD-RW dialog).

Your patch is not a fix, it is a workaround for your system but will result in faulty behaviour. The problem is very likely NetBSD-related by which I meant that the NetBSD support in K3b is probably not complete. Sadly I cannot do any tests on NetBSD, I never installed one and have no experience whatsoever with that OS.

I'd hate to sound counter-productive here, but in my opinion, the "I cannot do any tests on NetBSD" is not a valid excuse.  I didn't test K3b on Linux either, but if I have to, I will.

Sorry, but it is. I develop k3b on linux. The BSD ports are not done by me and 
I do not support them. I will not work my way into BSD now. Linux-only is 
already enough work.

Cannot load Blank dvds or cds was able to format rw disk but could not find it once done
