Description Yuriy Kozlov 2007-01-31 05:44:58 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

Some characters, generally non-english ones, as well as " in some keyboard variants appear as two stars/bullets/asterixes in password dialogs. This is seen in kdesu, the screensaver unlock dialog, and in the kdm logon screen.

Two cases when this happens are with a russian keyboard layout and with a layout with dead keys.

According to https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdebase/+bug/54564 until KDE 3.5.6, these passwords were not accepted at all.

This is also filed here: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdelibs/+bug/82275

Hello,
