I am using my 5G iPod with RockBox so it functions as directory-based, instead of iTunes DB based. When I use my iPod as a Generic Audio Player and attempt to transfer files with UTF-8 encoded asian characters in them, the filenames are renamed into gibberish. Also if I try to transfer a folder with UTF-8 characters in it, it will transfer the folder with gibberish characters but none of the files it contains. This happens with any UTF-8 files I have (all contain Japanese characters.) When transferring them over via the Konqueror, they work fine. 

I have a feeling this has to do with automatic file renaming found in the 'Transferred file locations' of the device configuration box. Setting it to rename everything to ASCII does not work either, it simply blanks out any foreign characters. This happens both with FLAC and MP3 media (those are the only two formats I use.)
