Thank you for taking the time to report this bug for Amarok. Amarok 1.4 is now unmaintained and will no longer see any improvements. Because of this, and the massive amount of changes Amarok has undergone throughout the 2.x series of releases, we are closing bugs that no longer apply to the 2.x series due to changes in functionality, the underlying architecture, or a conflict for the vision of Amarok 2. Version: 1.4-SVN (using KDE KDE 3.5.5) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages When a user opens a stream URL or playlist it might be useful if Amarok would ask whether he wants to save it to the playlist tab. This is especially useful for users listening a lot to different web streams. Just like one of my friends does: He usually browses the web, discovers a new web radio -> clicks the stream URL -> and enjoys the music. Still he has some favorites (changing from day to day) he also tunes in by using the browser (he probably doesn't create an entry in the playlist browser because he's to lazy) so for some streams he visits the website 5 times a day just to tune in the playlist/URL. Anyway, if Amarok would show a passive popup telling the user > You just tuned in a web stream. > May I save it for you into the streams list? > [x] Yes [ ] No every time the user calls an HTTP(S) URL and same thing for FILE URLs just that Amarok calls it playlist in this case it would be really cool. Some farther thoughts: * offer this after playback start properly, else there appear about 3 different passive popups if the playback can't be started * doing this for FILE URLs makes sense in case the user has playlists which are not located in the collection search path (eg special diretory with not properly tagged music) * sometimes it happens that users save playlists of web radios locally (for example with a bad integrated firefox a user will probably just save the playlist file to HD), so it might be smart to check the content of local playlists and call the popup which is talking about streams if the playlist includes HTTP(S) URLs - usually an HTTP playlist will not include local content so no check needed there ;-)
