Version:           3.5.5 (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from:    Gentoo Packages
Compiler:          gcc 4.1.1 
OS:                Linux

I am currently using KDE 3.5.5 with vlc 0.8.6 on Gentoo Linux. When using VLC with KDE, the window manager kwin doesn't fullscreen the vlc window correctly.  This problem is specific to the amd64 version of kwin and not the x86.  Every other window manager that I have tried (fluxbox, openbox, and beryl) correctly fullscreens vlc.

I have tried with various version of KDE and vlc since running into the problem during summer 2006 and the only solution is to not use kwin or not use vlc.  I am just one of few who are annoyed by this bug in kwin.

I suggest vlc developers read documentation for XChangeProperty, especially parts describing how 32bit values are handled. Contents of the _MOTIF_WM_HINTS property are wrong in the 64bit case.
