Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)

Hmmm... after encountering bug 129878 I remembered another old idea that I never put down in writing.

Maybe KDE Print Manager should not only provide a "restore previous configuration"; but even a "load new configuration from template".

Several *new* cupsd.conf templates are feasible, with according descriptions:

"Allow only printing for localhost users (unauthenticated)"
"Allow only printing for localhost users (authenticated only)"
"Allow printing for everybody (unauthenticated, even remote users)"
"Allow printing for remote users (authenticated only)"

Also, users should be able to save their own templates under a specific name and description and load that template as a valid cupsd.conf file whenever they need it.

Use case:
---------
A roaming notebook user frequently working in different environments: company office, home office, home network, road warrior, conference visitor, ...)

If somebody implements the code to save and load cupsd.conf.template files with KDE Print Manager, I'll write a few of the most usefull templates.

Any takers?

KDEPrint is obsolete, unmaintained and will never be revived. Closing all open bugs.
