When you perform an action (ie: change the background wall paper), you have 3 buttons in the dialog window: Ok - Apply - Cancel.

If you click "Apply" to see the effects of the action, you actually the action taking place (ie: the new wall paper). But if you click "Cancel", you don't retrieve your initial situation (ie: your original wall paper). Instead, clicking "Cancel" after clicking "Apply" has the same effect as clicking "OK" (and the new wall paper stays).

Clicking "Cancel" should really cancel the action, whether the user clicked "Apply" before or not.

i confirm, it's not normal.... the cancel button is not usefull for this action....

maybe other kde program is affected by this problem

I really tend to close this one because this is normal behaviour. Have you seen any environment (Gnome/GTK, Windows) which behaves like you suggests? According to my knowledge there is none.

This is not a library issue, all applications should be modified for this to change this behaviour and that's a hell of a job.

For me normal behavior is that when you hit "Cancel", is cancels your change instead of applying it.

If you don't change it because it's a lot of work, ok, but I think you should at least discuss it with the team to fix it later. Not fixing it because it doesn't work with  with Gnome either is not a good argument. KDE needs to advance in usability, independently if Gnome has the same shortcomings or not.

gnome does not have an apply button it applies instantly and cancel reverts. But that is a completely different behaviour - we're not going to change over night
