I also have experienced this issue. I can confirm it This is really a problem for me, I'd love to use KMail. Importing e-mail is something important IMHO. Any plans of fixing this? Even if it's not going to happen, I ... I'd like to hear it. At least I'll stop hoping :-) (Sorry for the 2nd comment, some key combination I accidentally typed submitted my previous comment.)
