Sentry Crash Report:

Description Cyb Org 2006-12-01 15:48:38 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

Well, there is no way to fix that easily i think, but some users have fun crashing other MSNs with sending a large amount of custom pictures in animated format.

Kopete slows down and doesnt react anymore (the whole kopete), which leads me to the thought, that the whole rendering is one big thread.

maybe this fact should be considered, or some antispam function (plugin?) built. also rendering the messages should maybe outhtreaded, because i cant even chat with others anymore. it simply slows down kopete.

can be quite an annoying attack, and if kopete crashes, you have no way of knowing, who it was on the list. since you dont even see the "you got message" warning.

however, if you wait until the attacker stops sending, you can read it, but if he attacks long enough, kopete is brought down.
also mostly i think many users suffering from such an attack would think, it is a program failure, not an attack.

We've completely replaced the current MSN implementation with a new MSN implementation which If you continue to experience this bug after testing the new implementation (which can be gotten from our subversion repository or with the KDE 4.2 Beta 1 release), PLEASE, open a new bug rather than reopening this bug. Thank you for your time and efforting in helping us find and fix problems in Kopete.
