Sentry Crash Report:

Description Peter Lunicks 2006-11-21 23:50:53 UTC
Version: 0.12.3 (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc 4.0.3
OS: Linux

When I select a font (font-family) for outgoing messages, kopete sends the font with the *next* message I send to the recipient. However, messages after that do not have the font associated with them, and thus the client on the other end does not show them in the font I chose.

I tested this in a couple of different ways:
1) Connected kopete to one account, gaim to another. Open message window in kopete. Set font in kopete to webdings (or another, but webdings is very distinct). Send message from kopete account to gaim account. Gaim account receives this message in webdings font. Send another message from kopete client to gaim client (leaving window open). Gaim client does not receive font-family information from kopete this time, and thus displays in its default font.

2) An extract of gaim's log from the above (foobar is on the kopete client):

<font color="#A82F2F"><font size="2">(16:39:18)</font> <b>foobar:</b></font> <span style='font-family: Webdings;'>new font</span><br/>
<font color="#A82F2F"><font size="2">(16:39:22)</font> <b>foobar:</b></font> not new font<br/>

The 'new font' message in Webdings showed up in Webdings.
The next message 'not new font' did not have 'Webdings' associated with it, even though Webdings was still selected as my font in kopete.

3) I also tested with kopete sending to another account on kopete -- same results -- font works only the first time.

Bold, italics, etc. seem to work (not work) the same way.

I too have tested this in a similar fashion and saw the same results.

Please update to newer version as we don't have manpower to support Kopete in
KDE 3. It should be fixed there.
