Version:           0.12.3 (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from:    SuSE RPMs
Compiler:          gcc 4.1.1 
OS:                Linux

I use kopete (0.12.2, 0.12.3) and I had trouble with friends in my contact list, who uses QIP (QIP.ru)
Problem: ~ every _5 mins_ kopete looks QIP's users status messages and QIP pop-up a window, where wrote that "User looking for your status". It's a problematic for QIP users, so please - solve that problem.

If you are talking about the ICQ plugin of kopte, this bug report is a duplicate of Bug 129501.

Hello, Jan and Will!

Today I have removed one of my ICQ friends from my Kopete's contact list because of this bug. I disturb him with such messages. He don't want to disable qip plugin that shows status pup-up. I don't want to change my ICQ client.

I don't interested with dynamic status messages. How can I disable regularly fetching users status messages? General statuses (away, N/A, DND) is enough for me.

Should be fixed in KDE 3.5.6 and later

Yuri: you can't disable it the only way is to edit source code. You can put 'return;' at the beginning of void Client::addICQAwayMessageRequest( const QString& contact, ICQStatus contactStatus ) in kopete/protocols/oscar/liboscar/client.cpp and recompile kopete.
