We use shared-mime-info, can you request the mimetype on http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Specifications/AddingMIMETutor

I now have write access to the freedesktop repository so I was able to make that change myself. Will be in the next shared-mime-info release after 0.60.

Please notify me if you opened a freedesktop bug report after all so I can close it.
