This is critical when KMail is run on a remote X-server with a slow internet connection. If this is implemented it should be a configurable option (wait x seconds). Otherwise a good idea. Jonathan, I suspect you have misunderstood the problem and my suggestion. The problem is that kmail switches between messages too slowly. I would like to get rid of the delay, not to intruduce a (configurable wait x seconds) delay. (Sorry if it was me misunderstanding you.) I'm sorry I was unclear, what I meant was to introduce a "Don't show preview of selected message until X seconds have passed" setting. Or something worded better... "Open preview after the message has been selected for X seconds" "Wait X seconds before previewing message" "Delay rendering of mail preview by X seconds" "Delay preview rendering by X seconds" For some reason, I can't think of a clear setting. Either way, making it a configurable option would allow people to tailor it to thier environment and liking. I understand now. If canceling rendering the preview is not (easily) possible, I think delaying the rendering is a good idea. I would set this delay to ca. 0.3 second. Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report. KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2. We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback. |
