This idea is relatively simple. Profiles that can easily retain all aspect of the UI for any KDE application.

Konqueror has profiles that are not fully application aware. I would like to be able to remove the bookmark toolbar from File Explorer but have it when I am using it as a web client. This is a common complaint of creating two different applications. With application aware profiles you can have your cake and eat it too. Konqueror could be easily configured to the users tastes. There could easily be a minimal option for Konqueror.

Konsole has schema. It would be extended and standardize system wide.

This functionality is available to admins who want to lock down the desktop but extent the idea to an infrastructure option available to all KDE applications.

One implementation is subdirectories of application settings with a profile name. Default settings would be left in the root directory; that is, this would be an added feature with no change to current methodology.

One profile for simple letters another for complex papers in KWord.
One setup for the desktop and the laptop.
Taking profiles with you; aka Roaming profiles.
Sharing how you set up an application; import/export profiles.
