Description V 2006-10-13 07:42:49 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

When a user logs in, the green adept notifier icon appears for a second before vanishing. This seems to be bad behaviour as adept notifier is hidden by default, and most users will not know what the green icon is because they have never seen it before. The Adept Notifier icon should be hidden completely and not appear like this on login.

I've noticed that this only seems to happen when I have session restore enabled and a lot of programs start up with the session.

Also was reported downstream for Ubuntu: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/ept/+bug/47988

Is this icon handled differently than other programs ? When I have had problems with X the green adept icon has sometimes showed up in a small window of it's own instead of as an icon in the notification area. I have never seen that happen to other applications.

And yes; having the green icon showing and dissappearing again is a bit confusing. The only reason I know which program it belonged to was because of the problem mentioned above.

I have seen that happen, actually, at a long last. Nevertheless, the notifier icon will be written anew for 3.0, so it's hopefully going away, finally. Keeping this to remind me of the problem.

Tidying up, and notifier is likely to become a plasma applet anyway.
