When inserting an image using the Image insertion dialog special characters like % in the caption field are not properly escaped in the generated latex code.

That is true, but isn't it clear that the caption should contain valid latex code?

Hello,

it would be quite confusing to have some fields where you should enter valid latex code and some others where you should enter escaped code.
So we don't change that.
