What do you mean by log ? Chat/Connection changes/whatever log ?

There is a log-plugin in kopete, just have a look and dis-/enable it. If you right-click on the photo of a contact you should see an entry "history".

Ok so it would be an extension to the history plugin (if not
implemented allready implemented)

Kopete already has a logging plugin. It's called 'History'
