Description lane 2006-09-11 18:14:56 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.3)
Installed from: FreeBSD Ports
Compiler: gcc version 3.4.2
OS: FreeBSD

I've been following the "Troubleshooting" wizard in the ksCD handbook. It refers to the option "use direct digital playback," which in the handbook appears in the "CD-ROM Device" frame of the main configuration dialog "Settings and Behavior." However this option does not exist on my configuration screen.

I have the drop-down to select the device.

I have the "Select audio backend" - although this option is greyed out.

I have the "Select audio device" text input area, with corresponding "browse" button (both greyed out)

But there is no text on the screen, grey or otherwise, that refers to "Direct Digital Playback"

Otherwise my configuration screen is identical to the one in the handbook.

Needless to say, audio does not work. ksCD correctly identifies my audio cd and does a fine job of looking up the tracks. But apparently without Direct Digital Playback I have to "rip" the tracks to my hard-drive in order to listen.

See bug 133834. We should probably add a note in the handbook to say this
