I'd love Kmail (or the whole kontact suite) to have a way to add/install themes to enhance the look and feel of it.  Thunderbird has such features and it would be a great selling point to have me move away from thunderbird.  Not like it isn't a great program, but I really love the K suite.

KDE has styles, color-themes, icon-themes and window-decorations, that has to be enough.

I agree with comment #1, I'll not add theme support to KMail.
