Description Scott Knauert 2006-08-31 23:56:56 UTC
Version: 0.11.3 (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

Disclaimer: I only use kopete for AIM and this error may just be related to the AIM plug-in.

When logging on to my account, I get the following error every time:

Error Creating Contact

You are not allowed to add yourself to the contact list. The addition of "username" to account "username" will not take place.

Allowing one to have themself on their contact list is supported by the AIM protocol, which is why my username is on my contact list, it is stored on the AIM server. Other AIM clients support this just fine. Besides removing the annoying system modal error message (the entire desktop becomes sluggish until I hit Okay), it is a useful feature to have oneself on their contact list to test away messages.

In 0.12 I can add myself as a user, but I still get the error message. Odd.
