Description Arne Babenhauserheide 2006-08-30 10:43:23 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc (GCC) 3.4.6 (Gentoo 3.4.6-r1, ssp-3.4.5-1.0, pie-8.7.9 CFLAGS="-O2 -pipe -march=k8", CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu", USE="crypt -arts -debug -kdeenablefinal -kdehiddenvisibility -xinerama"
OS: Linux

Sometimes kmail isn't able to store email adresses in the addressbook, because the addressbook is locked (I have quite many programs in testing, for example the x-server, so I experience more crashes than you'd have in normal operation).

Removing "~/.kde/share/apps/kabc/lock/*" from the Konsole (as my user) solves the problem, but I think the error dialog which pops up when the addressbook is locked should contain a button or a similar option to remove the locks from the gui.

Restarting KDE doesn't remove the lock, same for closing kmail.

And besides (since I didn't say it till now): Thank you very much for your effort and for the great work you do!
I really like working with KMail!

Best wishes,
Arne Babenhauserheide

The development of the old KAddressBook will be discontinued for KDE 4.4.
Since the new application has the same name, but a completly new code base we close all bug reports against the old version and ask the submitters to resend there reports against the new product.
