Description Tal Levy 2006-08-29 18:58:28 UTC
Version: 0.11.3 (using KDE 3.5.4, Arch Linux)
Compiler: Target: i686-pc-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.17-ARCH

ICQ contacts with hebrew nicknames show up as gibberish in the contact list. The user info for hebrew contacts also shows up as gibberish. The encoding setting for each user has no effect on the contact names/info. When trying to name a group in hebrew, the keyboard writes in hebrew but when the group is saved it shows up as gibberish. This is not the case when giving a contact a hebrew alias. It seems that there is no way to set a default global encoding of any sort and I think this feature should be added. Also, in the per-contact encoding setting there is no unicode option.

Can you try Kopete 0.12.2, I think it's fixed in that version and there is also unicode option available.

This is expected behaviour in 0.11 version, which has broken encoding support. This bug is fixed in 0.12. Either update Kopete to version 0.12 or just wait for a new version of KDE, which includes Kopete 0.12.
