As already mentioned in bug 131507 (which is not related to this one):

Some options from the "Message List" tab do not work for me.

Example:

General Options
[ ] Threaded message list (That means, it is turned off)

Threaded Message List Options
[ ] Threads default to closed
[X] Open threads that contain new, unread or important messages
    and open watched threads

With these options, KMail takes very long entering large folders, which tells me that "Threaded message list" is turned *on* (but I turned it *off*!). I only can speed things up when enabling "Threads default to closed" instead.

Also "Display message sizes" doesn't work for me. I check it, then click "OK", but no additional column appears in the message list. I only can get this to work by using the context menu: right-clicking on the message list headers, then selecting "Size". If I already activated "Display message sizes" before, then "Size" is already turned on. I'd have to turn it off first, then turn on again, then I get the size column finally.

The global threading option can be overriden by the folder-specific option. Look into the Folder menu whether Thread Messages is enabled.

Threading was *not* enabled for the specific folder.

I freshly installed KMail some days ago. So I think I got the
default values. At least I didn't change any folder-specific
options.

As the message list was completely rewritten in a recent KDE 4.x version, I close this bug.
If you still see this problem even with the current KDE version, please reopen.
