Description kYuZz 2006-07-15 20:28:54 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.3)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
Compiler: n/a n/a
OS: Linux

i think it'd be nice if in the first step of this wizard (i.e: _THIS_ bug report wizard), when the user is asked about the version of KDE he wants to report a bug for, it would explained an error-proof method to get hid exact kde version number.

Well, "Help / About KDE" in any kde application...

... or "kde(4)-config --version".

May be some help hint can be added: I have seen too much Ubuntu stable users (4.2.x) reporting bugs against 4.3.x (even when they were using 4.2); which makes us lost time trying to find out if they are wrong, or if they just didn't know about the version.

Right clicking on the desktop, or clicking on the menu icon, could be made to have an "About KDE" option? It's not intuitive that there would be an "about KDE" option in the menu of an _application_.

Also, I've followed an upgrade path, and used to have kde 3. In the upgrade kde-config was not uninstalled when kde4-config came out. So googling for how to report my KDE version and getting "kde-config --version", meant that at the time I thought my version was 3.5.10, despite it being 4.X .
