Description Stephan Sokolow 2006-07-11 21:47:02 UTC
Version: 0.9.2a (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc (GCC) 3.4.5 (Gentoo 3.4.5-r1, ssp-3.4.5-1.0, pie-8.7.9)
OS: Linux

Despite having set MPlayer as my backend of choice, Xine keeps getting used after I switch to it just once using the context menu. (MPlayer is my favorite, but it won't play wmv3 properly, Xine won't play audio from FLV files)

This may have something to do with my preference for using KMPlayer as a KPart inside Konqueror (while in file browser mode) rather than as a standalone application.

I won't have time to upgrade off Kubuntu 14.04 LTS until early 2019, so I can only test in KMPlayer 0.11.3d (KDE 4.13.3) but here are the results of my testing.

KMPlayer seems to function properly when used as a standalone application, but, when used as a KPart inside Konqueror, it doesn't remember the desired backend from file to file.

I'm guessing that's what I was observing back in 2006. That, after installing the Xine backend, it became the default that kept getting reset to. Now, it's the MPlayer backend. (If I select Phonon inside a KMPlayer preview KPart inside Konqueror, it resets to MPlayer whenever I back out and preview a new file.)

Thank you for reporting this issue in KDE software. As it was reported on an older version, can we please ask you to see if you cazn reproduce the issue with a more recent software version?

If you can confirm this issue still exists in a recent version, please change the version field and the status to "REPORTED" when replying. Thank you!

I don't use KMplayer anymore and I'm too busy preparing for Christmas to go out of my way to comply with a "test this now or have it WORKSFORME'd" ultimatum, so let KMplayer bit-rot, I guess.
