Version:           0.11.3 (using KDE KDE 3.5.3)
Installed from:    Debian testing/unstable Packages

You can't move or copy multiple contacts into groups. The ony available option is "delete"

This is only available trough drag'n'drop. Thats not enough because d'n'd can be painful with large lists.

Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained.

Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
