Description ndeb 2006-07-09 03:17:32 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.2)
Installed from: Mandriva RPMs
OS: Linux

I have all items selected in kcmprivacy so that clicking on the "cleanup" button should clear all of them. However, this action does not clear old xml files left over in ~/.kde/share/apps/kpdf/ . I have 100+ such old files (some more than 1 year old) that are still lying around. Clearing these files should also be part of the "cleanup" action.

Same problem in kde-3.5.4. How do I cleanup these files thru KDE gui?

I have read bug 141743 and I would suggest that you read my original report in this bug. I specifically stated ->

"I have all items selected in kcmprivacy so that clicking on the "cleanup" button should clear all of them."

You do provide options (in kcmprivacy) to clean up

- list of recently accessed documents
- thumbnail cache
- list of cookies
- web cache/history

and so on. So why not include the list of xml files in ~/.kde/share/apps/kpdf/ as well? If you provide the option, the user can choose what to do with these files.

Whether or not these files are "temporary" is to be decided by the user. If the user feels no need for these files then he/she should have the option to delete them.

Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this project has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug. Kcontrol has been replaced by System Settings in Plasma. Please give the latest version of that a try, and open a new bug in "systemsettings" if you continue to have an issue. Thank you!
