Could it be that you've removed attachments from the draft message? Did you check the source of the message (with View->View Source) in order to check whether the text is really gone? I wrote a simple email containing only a line with the text "test", and subject "test", and asked kmail to store it in the Drafts folder. After quitting and restarting kmail, the text "test" is missing from the body of the email. Through the webmail interface the email is still intact. This is still true after quitting and restarting kmail several times. "View Source" in kmail shows the following (I have put "hidden" instead of real email addresses): ---------------- X-UID: 353 X-Length: 536 X-Flags: 32 From: hidden Sender: hidden Reply-To: hidden To: hidden Subject: test Date: Wed, 5 Jul 2006 11:28:41 +0200 Content-Type: text/plain ------------------------------ "View Source" in the webmail interface shows the following: ------------------- From: hidden To: hidden Subject: test Date: Wed, 5 Jul 2006 11:28:41 +0200 User-Agent: KMail/1.9.3 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline X-KMail-Recipients: hidden Status: R X-Status: N X-KMail-EncryptionState: X-KMail-SignatureState: X-KMail-MDN-Sent: test -------------------- I just experienced something similar with an email in my Inbox folder, not in the Drafts folder. The email is blank (expect Sender and Subject) in kmail, but is displayed correctly with text body through the webmail interface. Using "View Source" in kmail does not show the text body of the email. So this problem has nothing to do with Drafts or the "Edit Message" functionality. I have not done anything to this email expect click on it a few times. After kmail stopped displaying the text body on another of the emails in my Inbox (also with "View Source"), I right-clicked on it and copied it to the Drafts folder on the IMAP server. The copy in the Drafts folder is now correctly displayed, even though the original email in the Inbox is not. The IMAP server I am having these problems with is Cyrus IMAPD 2.2.12. I think they have tens of thousands of users on that server, and noone has reported similar problems. But I don't think they have many kmail users. Those that use kmail are probably on computers with Redhat Enterprise Linux WS 3, or version 4. Most of the linux-users here are using Thunderbird and Pine. Maybe this is a compatibility problem between newer kmail versions and Cyrus IMAPD 2.2.12? Does someone else have the same client/server configuration? Best regards, Torquil M. Sørensen Since I initially misdiagnosed this problem, I think it is better if I close this report and open a new one with a clearer description. The bug really has nothing to do the editing messages, or the Drafts folder. In the new report I will refer to this one. Also, it shouldn't be a problem to close it and open a new one since it has not been assigned or confirmed by anyone. Best regards, Torquil M. Sørensen |
