This bug report is in general terms since it deals with my system security.

I have created a bash script that uses rsync to copy /home/???/* to a separate physical drive(s) in my box. I start the script as root because I also backup/copy /etc, /root & /boot . My screensaver is a slide show with a one second interval. My desktop is a slide show with a one minute interval. Both access the same directory, /home/???/scrapbook/ss_bkgd/* that has about 1,000 images. I run this backup daily.

The backup freeezes the computer about one in three times. A power down / power up is the only remedy. It is completely frozen. The system freeze occurs at different locations within the /home/??? directory backup to the new location. The /root, /boot & /etc directories are unaffected.

This has been happening for a very, very long time through many of KDE's previous versions. I have tried mirdir, cp, mirrordir to bypass the problem. I have divided the backup between root and user but the problem persists in the user directory. I can finally say that the problem is within the system and maybe(?) the screensaver/desktop slide show activates the crash. It may be a conflict where the user is trying to activate/access the slide show/screensaver while the root is trying to access/copy something.

p.s: The konsole people have this because the bash script runs through the konsole. Please disseminate this as you please.

I really doubt this is Konsole related.  Try starting your script from xterm and/or a virtual console (Alt+F1) and see if it still crashes...
You might also try asking on the Fedora mailing list or website.

You could also quit KDE entirely and try your script from the console... they would remove KDE entirely from this question of what is causing your crashes.
