When I want to change the filter chain position of a kmail filter rule I have to use the up and down arrows to do so. By now I have nearly 200 filter rules so changing the position of one is a time consuming task during which it is hard to keep the overview at which position you are. The whole process would be much easier if you could enable position numbers for the filter rules.

I can image two ways of handling that:

1. The position number, shown in a column at the left side of the filter rule list, is editable so you can change position of a filter by clicking on the number, thus making it editable and overwrite it with the new position number.

2. You can change the position via right clicking on a filter rule (context menu: change position) or maybe use an extra button and then getting a field where you can enter the new position number.

Another alternative would be to work with the list itself for a quick position change and e.g. use the middle mouse button to mark a filter for moving and then scroll to the appropriate position and there click with the middle mouse button again to move the rule. By holding the shift key and using middle click maybe you even could select more than one filter for moving.
