Description Francois Marier 2006-06-14 04:34:27 UTC
Version: 0.12.15 (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

Hi Sebastian, I'm not sure whether this is a bug, but here's something that a Debian user, Graham <graham.knap@gmail.com>, was wondering about (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=370608):

On startup, k3b resets my CD drives, and does not detect them.

I'm not sure why the reset is happening. I can't imagine any reason
why you would be doing this on purpose, so maybe it is a bug? Anyway,
when the reset occurs, this appears in the "dmesg" output:

(scsi0:A:2:0): No or incomplete CDB sent to device.
scsi0: Issued Channel A Bus Reset. 1 SCBs aborted

K3b does not reaset anything. Maybe this is caused by a wrong command or
something.

Details about your device, please.

My SCSI configuration is listed in the Debian bug report mentioned above:

Adaptec 29160N
Seagate ST336607LW
Pioneer DVD-303R
Yamaha CRW3200S
Comment 3 Graham Knap 2006-07-20 17:41:35 UTC
Sorry, I should have included the SCSI IDs, since the warning message from the kernel references SCSI ID 2.

[7] Adaptec 29160N
[0] Seagate ST336607LW
[2] Pioneer DVD-303R (this is just a reader)
[6] Yamaha CRW3200S

Did you already try k3b 0.12.16?

Hi Sebastian,

I'll try to get at this within the next week or two.

Hi again and sorry for the long delay.

I am no longer seeing the SCSI bus reset when K3B starts. In addition, it seems to be properly detecting my CD drives.

Relevant versions (Debian packages):

Linux 2.6.16
k3b 0.12.17-2
wodim 5:1.0~pre4-1.1
cdrdao 1:1.2.1-7

I think this bug report can be closed. Thanks for all your good work.
