Right now ksysguardd provides a list of monitors that it supports and the gui must choose among them. This doesn't allow for the monitoring of arbitrary information, i.e. it is currently impossible to create a monitor that reports the size of an arbitrary file. With the current interface, ksysguardd would have to provide a monitor for every file on the computer.

ksysguard is no longer maintained, in Plasma 6 there is the Plasma system monitor for this task.
