Description richlv 2006-05-03 10:08:59 UTC
Version: svn (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
Installed from: Slackware Packages
OS: Linux

if a user starts playback with no engine set (for example, if sound device is busy upon amarok startup, it changes engine vo "void" or none), amarok keeps skipping songs and it is almost impossible to stop it by pausing - the only solution is to quit amarok.

if there is no engine set, anmarok should not allow to start playback at all.

This also happens if some other process grabs the sound device while amaroK is paused. I frequently pause amaroK to let flash in nspluginviewer play some sound, and if I unpause amaroK while the sound device is still busy I get this unstoppable song skipping. I think playback should be paused/stopped if the engine fails.

this is also happening to me. If my computer makes a noise between songs using a different engine than the amarok engine amarok starts to skip songs until it can reobtain the sound setup. I'm using the xine engine. To make things worse it marks every song it cycles through as played. Is it possible to either just wait until it can aquire the sound card or at the very least not mark the songs as played? I'm using KDE 3.5.3. The packaging is ubuntu packages.
