Description mi+kde 2006-04-24 20:21:14 UTC
Version: 1.9.1 (using KDE 3.5.2, compiled sources)
Compiler: gcc version 3.4.4 [FreeBSD] 20050518
OS: FreeBSD (i386) release 6.1-PRERELEASE

Simply shift-deleting a message from my mailbox (4000+ messages) takes noticably long time, during which the kmail process can be observed with top to take over 40% of the CPU.

This is when the messages are listed in thread-branches. I guess, the whole mailbox is rescanned to rebuild the branches, but 4000 messages is not that many. Even if they are all rescanned, it should still be instantanious on a Pentium-4 running @2GHz.

Perhaps, some linear scanning needs to be replaced with in-memory hashtables somewhere? :-)

This is related to bug 87857. Let's see if there is any improvement after that patch is (if done so) merged.

As the mentioned other problem has been fixed a long time ago, and we're already at KDE 4.3.1, can you still see this problem ?

Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this version of Kmail has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug. Please try using the latest version of Kmail to see if your issue persists. If it does, please submit a new bug in "kmail2". Thank you!
