When searching files with search key, it suggest "Last Search" name to save search. It would be little easier if it would suggest automatically name what is used as search key.

Now if i just click OK and it saves my search as "Last search" and then i do new search with different key and i press OK, it prompt me a question for new search name. This is annoying when searching with different keys.

So if i wanted search "Red car" from my pictures, it use that as default name to saved search. Then if i search "Yellow car" it save that search automatically as "Yellow car".

Other suggestion is that when searching something many times and it saves them, it isn't so easy way to delete these saved searches. 
There could be a button to delete search just right side of search (look a picture) and to avoid mistakes, it could act like close buttongs on konversation tabbar, where you need hover mouse over tab a second until you can press it.

This would work for simple searches.  However, the logic breaks slightly when the search is for 'Images with a date before 1234 and after 0101 and album contains Fred and rating greater than 3'.  I suppose if the code just picks the first search term as the search name it would work though.

I do like the concept of the delete button though, as it reduces right-button clicking for context menus.

That would be only for simple searches, i dont know but i think most normal users just use simple search more often than advance. In advance you need type other informations and use mouse more than in simple search. So my idea would just make simple search easier :-)

KMail has a good example of how this could be implemented.  When searching (equivalent to Digikam's Advanced Search) the dialogue contains a lineedit which allows the user to select the name of the virtual folder that displays the search results.  The default value is "Last Search".  Essentially, instead of requiring Digikam to name the search based on the criteria the user gives it an arbitrary name.

Wow, never mind.  This functionality is already implemented.  As far as the bug is concerned, I'm not sure there exists a better way to implement saving searches.

Current digiKam version has better search panel now, so this kind isn't anymore needed.
