Description Tristan Miller 2006-04-17 22:26:52 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

KNode does not recognize NNTP URLs as specified by RFC 1738 <http://rfc.net/rfc1738.html>. This is a pretty major missing feature considering that KNode is a news client.

For example, if one reads a message containing the string
<nntp://newssrv.cdf.toronto.edu/ut.cdf.general/1145196515.558157.186670@v46g2000cwv.googlegroups.com>, KNode does not recognize it as a URL specifying a Usenet article on a particular server and make it a clickable hyperlink. Instead, it interprets everything following the nntp:// as an e-mail address!

KNode does provide support for news: URLs (also RFC 1738) so please include support for NNTP URLs as well.

Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this project has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug.
