Description Ashish Shukla 2006-04-17 22:05:30 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.1)
OS: Linux

Kopete (and other KDE applications like KWrite) crashes when SCIM input method is activated on any of the text components. The following line gets outputted to console (when kwrite crashed):

-- dump begins --
kwrite: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/qt-3.3/plugins/inputmethods/libqscim.so: undefined symbol: _ZN4scim24scim_get_locale_languageERKSs
-- dump ends --

For kopete, replace kwrite with kopete in above dump. I'm on Fedora Core 5 (AMD64). The versions of scim, qt, and scim-qtimm packages are:
scim-1.4.4-9.1.fc5 (updated)
qt-3.3.5-13 (shipped with distro)
scim-qtimm-0.9.4-2.1.1 (shipped with distro)

I've also tried updating scim but nothing has changed. The version of scim shipped with distro is scim-1.4.4-9. The SCIM works fine in GNOME.

BTW, Konqueror (and some other applications) also exhibit this behavior (unknown to me). When these apps are started from K menu, the "Select Input Method" menu doesn't contains "scim" menu item, when started from "konsole" they contains "scim" menu item. Why is it so ??

Thanks

your Qt does not fit your scim. You should talk wtih your linux vendor
