Please check bug 119149, bug 95064, bug 122828 and see whether any of the ways to reproduce them is the culprit in your case. If so, please tell us so that we can mark this as a duplicate. It happened to me twice - KMail made two extra copies of the message sent to me. They were sent only once - no BCC or anything. Both times, the message had a huge attachment - a few MB. I can confirm that this is happening and is the reason I cannot use KMAIL as a mail client. This happens both at work, where we use an Exchange server running IMAP and at home, where I run a Cyrus IMAP server. In both cases, Kmail causes messages to be duplicated or in some cases screws up the dates of the mail, causing sorting by date to no longer work (even when opened in Thunderbird). This problem happens almost every time I even open Kmail. This is with Kmail version 1.9.6 running OpenSuSE 10.2 on x86_64 on two systems, and Solaris 2.8 on another system (KDE 3.5.6). This problem happens with all systems. As far as I'm concerned, it corrupts the mailboxes with all these duplicate emails and causes DATA CORRUPTION as far as I'm concerned. This is so easy to reproduce it isn't even funny. All I have to do is click on my IMAP inbox and the problem starts up immediately, every single time. I don't know if this matters, but I have over 20K emails in my inbox folder. If anyone is seeing this using disconnected imap (aka cachedimap, aka DIMAP) AND client side filtering AND recent openSUSE kdepim 3.5.6 packages from the build service, it was due to an experimental patch that I have since removed from those packages. If not, your dupes have a different cause, don't bother to reply to this :). |
