I cannot acknowledge this behaivour with KDE_3_5_BRANCH. What happens if you drag the lower view down ? For me they seperate again.

Dragging the lower view down still does not seperate them for me.

Could you try the latest version and see whether this happens? Just like Michael said, dragging the lower part of the (now joint) separator bar splits the views again.
